Daily DeviationSummer on the Porch by *sergefoglio is a wonderfully sentimental and simplistic piece. The image invokes thoughts of one's own childhood, taking you on a trip down memory lane. The simplicity of the lines really help you focus on what is being said in the image and adds a solid foundation to find your way back through the years to your own "summer on the porch" moments without overpowering one's own imagination. I wish there was some way to keep the context but still quite the background that surrounds him. It seems to solid and heavy somehow. As if a child should exist more truly then their surroundings do, because they are so full of life and purity of spirit. I don't like how the chair shadow goes so close to his hair. I really like the detail in Chris' toque though, and the hair as well. Again, beautiful rendition of Ethan.

Yes, but again, this is the way it is.
The blocky effect is a reflection of reality.
The way the light crash it all.
Blunt and right in your face.
it ain't a nice little illustration Laurel, it's life.

hehe the number of kids i see with such symbols on their clothes always makes me grin, its like they familiarise themselves with a worldwide symbol of honesty and truth, superheros to save the day and they actually believe they can be like them, i just wish they never had to lose those ideas. Gorgeous picture :)

I'm usually all about the color but the black/white of this piece just struck me so. Very beautiful. And I like how the window is cut off in a warbley (is that a word?) kind of way. There's no crisp delineation of where the picture ends which is appropriate for the feeling this picture emotes.
